Location: Giac Lam Pagoda is located at 565 Lac Long Quan Street, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City. Characteristic: It is one of the city's oldest pagodas with many Buddha statues made of brass and precious timber.
Buitl in 1744, the pagoda has the architecture in the shape of Han Character 三 (Tam), including sanctum, preaching hall, dining house. Of which, the sanctum is built according to the traditional architecture with one compartment and two lean-toes, columns carved parallel sentences, red lacquered and trimmed with gold. The sanctum houses 113 Buddha statues made of brass and precious timber.
The 7-floor hexagon tower keeping Buddhist relics exists in the front of the pagoda. The pagoda’s yard has Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue under the sacred Bodhi tree. This Bodhi tree has been brought from Sri Lanka by Venerable Narada since 1953.
The scenery around the pagoda is picturesque and many people come here to write or recite poetry. The pagoda is open from 6.00am to 9.00pm.
